Ian A. Johncox

EPOCH Mediation

Ian believes that trial is the last resort to solving disputes. Parties resort to litigation because they have reached an impasse in their attempts to resolve their differences. Ian’s role is to assist the parties in breaking the stalemate. Ian is a practical problem solver. He realizes that litigation is expensive, time-consuming and inconvenient and uses every tool at his disposal to resolve your dispute efficiently.

Ian brings his unique blend of qualities to the mediation. They include: broad-based litigation experience; integrity; analytical mind; strong problem-solving skills; quick grasp of complex issues; perseverance; and a knack for communicating in plain, understandable English.

The parties’ interests are as important as their positions. Ian will assess, consider and challenge the parties’ positions while respecting their interests.

Ian is capable at using his skills and tapping into the skills of the parties and their lawyers to create a mediation process that will bring them from divergent positions down a path to common ground.

Ian Johncox has practised civil litigation and employment law since 1996 and has recently opened his mediation practice in Whitby. In his practice, Ian has litigated and settled a broad spectrum of cases.
